Salesforce Einstein Analytics is a cloud-based platform for connecting data from multiple sources, creating exploration views against that data and then creating dashboards. These insights can be distributed to business users of any level of experience to help them collaborate to take action and understand how their business is changing over time and what's behind those shifts.

Design System

Designing a visual system for a product this large was an incredible experience! Over the course of 6 quick months working closely with my teammates I created everything you see on this page. Analytics UX is a very small and diversely skilled UX team at Salesforce of about 8 people. We work very quickly and in close proximity with our Developers and PMs.

The brand color assigned to Analytics Cloud is a green. Working with that color I created a cool palette. When looking at financial data visualizations I wanted to make sure the user had a sense of calmness from the UI. I employed what I like to call the gallery principal. The focus of a viewer is on only the artwork they came to see. The viewer should never have to focus on the gallery walls.

Once the base of the visual system was in place I created a robust UI Kit to push for visual consistency and rapid iteration. The product quickly approaching its release at the primary keynote of Dreamforce 2014 I pushed for both quality and speed.

Mobile

The deadline of the product demanded that Mobile, Tablet and Wearables were designed in tandem with Desktop.

Home

Allows the user to quickly browse Dashboards, Lenses and Datasets represented by illustrations of those objects for security reasons. Sort order is based when data was last updated.

Stage Left

Apps (collections of individual charts and dashboards) can be quickly changed here. Allows the user to hold massive amounts of information in the palm of their hand without being overwhelmed by it. User accounts can be quickly swapped. This is excellent for reviewing user permissions on sensitive data.

Salesforce Analytics Mobile Screen Set 1

Explorer "Lens" (single chart)

Users can Measure, Group and Filter their data into instantly responding visualizations. Chart types can be instantly changed through View. Changes to the charts can be reviewed through the history states at the top. Last but not least Actions allows the user can annotate their charts, and quickly save or share their image to a social feed.

Dashboard (collection of charts)

A powerful collection of widgets allow users can filter their collection of charts simultaneously by a set criteria. These dashboards can be shared out with other users or presented with Presentation Mode on large screens that it scales to fit.

Desktop

Desktop as I mentioned was designed in tandem with Mobile, Tablet and Wearables. The deadline of the product demanded this process from the very beginning. Truth be told the challenge was a blast!

Finder

Just like on the mobile product Finder allows the user to quickly browse Apps, Dashboards, Lenses and Datasets represented by illustrations of those objects for security reasons. Sort order is based when data was last updated.

Apps

Unlike Mobile, Desktop allows for the creation of Apps. Apps are user curated collections of Lenses, Dashboards and Datasets. These collections can quickly be preview and shared with other users.
